Winning Hotel
En-suite bedrooms are simply furnished. A number can accommodate additional beds, some have balconies and all have mountain views. There are also a limited number of interconnecting family rooms.
On the ground floor is a comfortable reception area, O'Malleys - always popular and busy, a fantastic sunny terrace and a bright and airy dining room. Streamed sport and high speed WiFi is available throughout the hotel. We also love pets.
In the basement is our ever popular late bar – the Cave.
Late flights on the last day of many a personal holiday has always frustrated so we will always endeavour to make at least one room available for showers and changing for guests on afternoon or evening departures - and at no additional cost.
If you're looking for a luxury hotel then the Staffler is possibly not for you but if your accommodation choice is about a simple approach, an outstanding service, complimentary Ski Guiding, O’Malleys and the Cave and lots more besides then the Staffler will undoubtedly satisfy!

Multiple Awards
We never forget that our guests have a multitude of choices of country, resort and hotel when choosing their ski holiday. We strive to constantly improve what we offer and this, our 20th year is no exception. Our complimentary Ski Guiding and outstanding service remain a cornerstone of what we offer.
We are proud recipients of Tripadvisor’s Travellers Choice Award for 2016 which positioned the Staffler as one of the top 25 hotels in Austria for families and service. This coveted honour sits alongside their Certificate of Excellence, Green Leaders environmental silver award and Hall of Fame for 2018. We are particularly proud of this latest award which recognises that this is now the tenth consecutive year the Certificate of Excellence has been awarded to the Staffler. We are also consistently the number one hotel in our resort on their popularity ranking.
We are also rated ‘Very Good’ on, Google and a raft of other on line Travel Agents.
The biggest Ski area in the world on a single pass
The three alpine villages of Niederau, Oberau and Auffach nestle in one of Austria's most beautiful valleys known as the Wildschonau. Niederau is a friendly, safe and generally snow-sure resort. There are a number of hotels and guest houses scattered around a small village centre which also has a ski shop, a number of ski hire outlets, bars, restaurants and a bank. Close by is a garage and two large supermarkets.
Apres Ski and night time bars are all pretty relaxed and informal. There are a scattering of bars close to the slopes. There's also the ever so busy bar and terrace at O'Malley's. The Cave underneath the hotel is a Niederau institution - and has been for over 50 years. Something going on every night and live music as well.
The resorts main ski lifts and nursery slopes are less than 150 meters from the hotel and apart from crossing the main road, our guests can ski back to the door for most of the season. The resort villages of Oberau and Auffach are easily accessible by complimentary ski bus. A new fast access Gondola will transform uplift in Auffach from the start of this season.
The Wildschonau is just 20 minutes from the town of Worgl. With its mainline station and direct access to the motorways, there are simple and fast connections to Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich.
Ski Packs & Guiding
The Wildschonau, Kitzbuhler Alps &
so much more
Austria, offers the best all round ski experience of any Alpine nation. Absolutely. Resorts continually invest in their ski infrastructure - new lifts, new piste and always improved snow making facilities. Piste management is second to none - and prices are some of the keenest in Europe. You'll always be welcome and you'll always be pleased with the service.
The Austrian Tirol is one of the worlds greatest ski paradises. The restaurants and bars as much a part of the experience as the slopes and scenery - and that's saying something considering there are nearly 4000kms of piste, 1700 lifts and some of the most famous resorts in the world.
The Kitzbuhler Alps combine seven of the best ski areas in the Tirol offering guests guaranteed snow, state of the art cable cars and lifts, more than 1000kms of piste and a myriad of mountain bars and restaurants. The Wildschonau, comprising Niederau, Oberau and Auffach and now including Alpbach under the Ski Juwel banner is an integral part of this massive system, prices can be accessed here.
It all starts in the kitchen. And at the Staffler, we’re proud of our Half Board offering. There’s a Continental Breakfast – lots of choices including seed and yoghurt bar, a selection of homemade baked breads, meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, Clipper Fair Trade and lots of fruit tea options. We’ve also award-winning British Bacon rolls and lots more available as a paid option all season long. Take a look at our current lovely paid for breakfast options. This winter we are also introducing Kofra Fair Trade and sustainability coffee beans supplied by our favourite independent Norwich Cafe chain both at breakfast and as our paid for the coffee option.
Evening meals at the Staffler are a delight! Three courses – always and complimented by a canapé. There’s soup, soup and more soup – homemade and using vegetable stock – suitable for most dietary requirements. We’re famous for our soup, always served with freshly baked bread. Our delicious main courses and puddings are a delight – mostly celebrating ‘Great British Puddings’ – both historical and modern. And there’s always our lovely ice creams.
We really love our food and with that food love comes a reluctance to throw any of it away. So we’ve asked around and collected knowledge and ideas and perfected a number of techniques and good habits to enable us to make the very most of our beloved grub.
We also try hard to offer locally sourced ingredients as far as possible and are mindful of the distance our product travels. We offer an ever-increasing number of Vegetarian and Vegan dishes at dinner as well as non-dairy milk, cheeses and butter at breakfast. We even offer a Vegetarian Bacon Roll alongside our traditional cooked breakfast options
